Not Like The Movies - Half Acre Day [Music]
Sep 29, 2008 Humor, Music of the Moment
I love the lyrics and the almost feel good, but not quite sound to the song.
Favorite line
I’m going to take you out tonight, and treat you like a princess;
Lock you in a tower and leaver you for an hour.
I love TheSixtyOne.com; it makes me happy.

How to Make an iTunes/iPod Audiobook [tutorial]
Sep 20, 2008 Tutorials
This tutorial will be useful for you IF:
- You have audiobooks on CD, or in mp3 format
AND
- You are too cheap to purchase the audiobook from the iTunes Store
OR
- Your book is not available on the store
AND
- You have some time, and enjoy organizing (you just want your stupid book to show up in the stupid audiobook section and you want chapters even if you might never use the feature)
OPTIONAL
- You need a mac if you want to put chapters in the file. Sorry.
In this tutorial I will step you through joining the tracks into a single file (depending on the size of the book) with chapter markers and a bookmark. Then you will throw the file into the audiobook section on your iTunes/iPod/iPhone where it should be. There are a few apple scripts you will need. One costs $10, but has a 30 day trial so this tutorial should be free.
Just show me the tutorial
Cubescape
Sep 18, 2008 Design, Web Development
I usually stay away from online drawing applications. I’d rather play with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
Cubescape grabbed my attention though. It was a quick way to draw fun, isometric, almost-pixel art. Then you can even animate the drawing of it. Here is an example of what I did just messing around with it.
Amazingly it was made completely with jQuery. Who’d a thought?

Dropbox Public Beta - Amazingnessly Good
Sep 12, 2008 Applications, Reviews
So if you haven’t heard, Dropbox went into public beta yesterday, and I think I love it. Dropbox is a great application for keeping files online. The idea isn’t anything revolutionary, but with a native Windows and OS X desktop application, a web interface, and a great iPhone web app, they are changing the game a bit.
I’ve been playing with the different ways to access it and have been impressed so far.
March Into the Sea - Modest Mouse [song]
Sep 11, 2008 Music of the Moment
For me, music has many parallels to design. A good song needs to have contrast. Either contrast within itself, or contrast with the norm, without introducing too much noise or chaos. March Into the Sea has contrast by the bucket loads. It might be a bit much for some, but I love it. Great intro (definitely Pirate music), great verses, amazing energy with good control.
I have loved Modest Mouse for awhile, but this album took a definite new turn for the band. I’m not sure if it was the introduction of Johnny Marr (former Smiths guitarist), but I’m happy with it. Enjoy!

Awesome Flickr iPhone App - Klick
Sep 10, 2008 Applications, Reviews, iPhone
Since I really starting to love Flickr more, I decided to look for a good Flickr Application for the iPhone. I was disappointed to find most of them were not free (I go for the free iPhone Apps, that’s just how I roll :), and the one free one that looked good (Exposure) did not have the ability to upload images. I don’t really NEED a way to look at other people’s Flickr on my phone.
Flickup looked pretty good, but $1.99 even seems like too much when I really just want to get it to mess around a bit.
After searching a big more I found Klick. It wasn’t obvious from the name or logo that it was afliated with Flickr at all, but it is just what I needed. You can browse photos from contacts, your own photostream, and everyone on Flickr, but best of all it does uploading of photos to Flickr perfectly. My one bit of critisim is that while viewing the images you can not zoom as effortlessly as your native photos, or even the photos on the Facebook app.
