Music Discovery on the Desktop [TheSixtyOne, Fluid]
Apr 21, 2009 Creative, Design, Music of the Moment, Technology
TheSixtyOne is an excellent music discovery site with some rpg style leveling up, but like all internet radio I often close the browser accidentally and lose my music stream. Fluid to the rescue!
Fluid lets you have a dedicated browser (for web apps) that is isolated from the rest of the browsers and acts like a desktop application. To make it complete I created an icon specifically for TheSixtyOne and I thought I post it for anyone else. Sorry PC, Fluid is Mac/Universal only.
Download the icon and AI files here.
Here is one of my favorite songs I found using TheSixtyOne

Art Generator that Kicks Ascii
Feb 5, 2009 Design

So, the Ascii Art Generator does pretty much what it should. Although it is a very simple idea, I was impressed by the amount of creative that came from something as limited as Ascii Art.
I was especially impressed with the 3d style.
Check it out here.

I Met the Walrus
Very cool interview of John Lennon done by a 14 year old boy. More impressive to me is the artwork in this video. Oddly enough it was done by James Braithwaite – no direct relation, but obviously some level of awesomeness comes with the name.

Best Blank Cards Ever
Nov 29, 2008 Creative, Design, Uncategorized
Blank cards usually seem to me like someone just gave up half way through, but with The ____ Cards it is a great way to inspire some creativity.
The only downside I can see is that you will have a bunch of annoying little dots of paper around after you create your perfect card.

Is that category specific enough for you? Should we also add from Canada?
Check out Gyom Séguin’s work over at dafont.com.
I love his style, and his fonts are free.
Two of my favorites are

Cubescape
Sep 18, 2008 Design, Web Development
I usually stay away from online drawing applications. I’d rather play with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
Cubescape grabbed my attention though. It was a quick way to draw fun, isometric, almost-pixel art. Then you can even animate the drawing of it. Here is an example of what I did just messing around with it.
Amazingly it was made completely with jQuery. Who’d a thought?
