Human - The Killers [song]

I don’t listen to the radio anymore, but my guess is this song is playing on it a bit. Good feeling, quirky lyrics and Brandon Flowers. Hard to go wrong.

Hello Seattle - Of June [Song]

I recently found this song on TheSixtyOne.com and it is awesome. I grew up in Seattle and love the feeling of the city. I have listened to it four times in a row and love it a little more each time.

I’m going to need to pace myself to make sure I don’t kill it.

The lyrics are really pretty random.

Quinn the Eskimo - [Music]

I know the original version of the song was by Bob Dylan, but Manfred Mad did the first commercial release, and I heard this one first so that is how I prefer it :)

Great oldie that surprisingly few have heard. Enjoy.

It’s Not True - William Fitzsimmons [Music]

Such a great mellow song. It has been labeled as folk, but it seems a bit more than that. The lyrics are a little bit heart wrenching. Not in an over the top fashion, but a real feeling.

I recommend a listen.

Breach [Albums]

Breach

There are certain albums that seem to be greater than the sum of the parts. Breach by the Wallflowers was definitely that for me. The first album (Bringing Down the Horse) was a bit too mainstream for me; I have yet to hear a song from this album on the radio.

I recommend listening to it in order, with the exception of Baby Bird. It is a “secret” song tacked on to the last track. It has been separated for your convenience.

Trying out Grooveshark Widgets. I’ll make a post on it when I form and opinion.

Enjoy.

Favorite Muxtape Resurrected

So I miss Muxtape.

There is something about mixed tapes on real cassetes that are so much better than cds or mp3s. I miss being forced to listen songs in order. So a challenge - make a mix. A really good one that is dependent on the order of the songs, and share it with someone else. That is the best reason to make a mix.

Here is my Muxtape. Song number 9 is Lovesong by Adam Craw. He is a friend of mine from high school, and I kind of stole it from his computer. He’s on a mission right now in Washington, so he can’t complain too much. :) Enjoy.

Notice imeem tends to suddenly reduce songs to 30 sec clips. Not cool for a good mix. I am looking for alternative to sharing a good mix online without getting in trouble.

I Wasn’t Made for Fighting - Woodhands [Music Video]

Good song, Awesome video.  I love the scene they pose.

Not Like The Movies - Half Acre Day [Music]

I love the lyrics and the almost feel good, but not quite sound to the song.

Favorite line

I’m going to take you out tonight, and treat you like a princess;
Lock you in a tower and leaver you for an hour.

I love TheSixtyOne.com; it makes me happy.

The One and Only - Chesney Hawks [song]

Sing it loud.  Suddenly I have the urge to go drive somewhere.

March Into the Sea - Modest Mouse [song]

For me, music has many parallels to design.  A good song needs to have contrast.  Either contrast within itself, or contrast with the norm, without introducing too much noise or chaos.  March Into the Sea has contrast by the bucket loads.  It might be a bit much for some, but I love it.  Great intro (definitely Pirate music), great verses, amazing energy with good control.

I have loved Modest Mouse for awhile, but this album took a definite new turn for the band. I’m not sure if it was the introduction of Johnny Marr (former Smiths guitarist), but I’m happy with it. Enjoy!
